Finals week can’t be restricted to just a large mug of coffee and tons of slides to review. With the end of the semester just around the corner, trying to juggle your commitment to study all the material and finish some assignments can be challenging and stressful. Sometimes, things are so overwhelming that we forget to just give ourselves a break. So take this post as a reminder that a healthy mind and body are the keys to success!
1) Take a walk
Taking a walk and getting some fresh air is a great way to calm you down, relieve some pressure, and clear your head, making it easier to get back into the grind of things.
2) Listen to some music
Create a playlist that will help you relax, bring you some good memories, and boost your mood.
3) Exercise
Exercising will help reduce stress. Going to the gym and lifting some weights or doing 20 minutes of cardio will help your body release endorphins, which make you happier and full of energy.
4) Treat yourself
Setting up a reward system helps you stay motivated to accomplish the task at hand. During finals I let myself have some comfort foods, such as chocolates and candies.
5) Organize
Organizing your living space and your time can help keep you stay focused and avoid any distractions. When the place you live is a mess, you feel like your life is kind of a mess, too. It’s important to organize your space and your schedule!
6) Learn to say NO
Thanks goodness finals lasts only one week, so it won’t be a problem if you can’t attend that party or happy hour that your friends invited you to. It’s crucial to know when to draw the line and take a step back from accepting every invitation offered to you.
7) Sleep
If I could give you just ONE piece of advice it would be: DON’T SKIP HOURS OF SLEEPING! There’s nothing like a good night’s rest. Moreover, sleeping helps to reinforce studying. Lack of sleep limits your ability to learn, listen, and concentrate. A warm bath before bed can put you in a restful state of mind.
Good luck!
